The 6-week consultation period preceding the submission of a planning application for the doubling of flights at Luton Airport starts on 13th February 2012.
Only some of the communities to be affected by more flights will get visits from the PR firm handling the consultation. The schedule covers Luton, Flamstead, Whitwell, Hitchin, Caddington, Leighton Buzzard, Dunstable, Harpenden, Stevenage, Wheathampstead and Breachwood Green.
Redbourn has been left off the list despite suffering a massive increase in aircraft noise last summer during the trial of a new flight path. Both Hemel Hempstead and Gaddesden Row get lots of planes overhead, yet neither is being visited. Perhaps Luton Borough Council does not want them to know that this nuisance would double?
The organisers will aim to collect online responses to carefully crafted questions. They need to give respondents a fair chance to state their views on the futureLuToN proposals: to increase the cash generated for Luton by the Airport, while doubling the noise and pollution across Hertfordshire towns and villages.
