The HALE website campaigns against the impact of Luton Airport expansion and the lack of adequate controls over noise, pollution and flight paths. We are fighting for reduction of the aircraft noise impact on Hertfordshire, and a better quality of life in our communities.
The number of people using Luton Airport has grown from 9 million to 14 million per year over the last 5 years – much faster than expected. Local communities are suffering more and more noise from planes - and the aircraft are not getting quieter, instead they are getting bigger and fuller, and flying more and more frequently.
Two other local campaign groups have joined forces with HALE to fight the effects of capacity expansion at Luton Airport. Harpenden Sky and Save Our Skies St Albans both represent communities fed up with the growing noise impact, and the fact that Luton Borough Council makes millions from the airport whilst exporting the noise to Hertfordshire. See the story at Campaign groups unite to fight noise.
